The FP700’s modular design allows you to easily switch between the spraying and spreading systems. This lesson demonstrates the correct procedure.
Safety First: Always power off the drone completely and remove the batteries before starting any payload switching procedure.
Removing the Current Payload (Example: Spraying System):
- Power Off & Disconnect: Ensure the drone and UPS backup are fully powered off, and batteries are removed.
- Disconnect Wiring: Carefully disconnect the relevant wiring harnesses connecting the payload (e.g., water pump, nozzles, sensors for spraying system) to the drone’s main distribution board or HUB. Note the connection points. Protect connectors from contamination.
- Disconnect Plumbing (Spraying): Disconnect quick-release water pipes connecting the tank/pump to the spray booms/nozzles.
- Release Latches/Screws: Unlock or unscrew any fasteners securing the payload tank/unit to the drone frame. Refer to your specific model’s mechanism (e.g., weight sensor supports, mounting brackets).
- Remove Payload: Carefully lift the payload unit (e.g., spray tank assembly) vertically off the drone frame, avoiding snagging wires or components.
Installing the New Payload (Example: Spreading System):
- Position Payload: Carefully align the new payload unit (e.g., spreader tank assembly) with the drone’s mounting points and lower it onto the frame. Ensure it sits correctly on any weight sensors or brackets.
- Secure Latches/Screws: Fasten any screws or engage latches to securely attach the payload to the drone frame.
- Connect Wiring: Reconnect the appropriate wiring harnesses from the new payload (e.g., spreader motor, gate control, sensors) to the drone’s distribution board or HUB. Ensure connectors are correctly oriented and fully seated to prevent short circuits or malfunctions. Protect connectors during installation.
- App Configuration: After installing the new payload and powering the drone back on, go into the Agri Assistant App settings. Select the newly installed payload type (e.g., « SP5 Spreader ») in the device or operation mode settings to ensure the software recognizes the correct configuration.
- Calibration: The new payload system (especially the spreader’s weighing system or the sprayer’s flow meter if components were changed) will likely require calibration before first use. Follow the procedures outlined in Lessons 15 and 16.
Always handle components carefully and double-check all connections before powering on the drone after switching payloads.
