Drone-Assisted Exterior Cleaning Workflow

Facade Cleaning Drone Solution for Commercial Buildings

EAUAV helps cleaning companies, facility managers, DJI dealers, and building maintenance teams choose the right path: a complete Vertex C80/C80P facade cleaning drone system, or a DJI Matrice 400 facade cleaning payload kit for teams that already own or source DJI M400 locally.

Why Traditional Facade Cleaning Is Difficult to Scale

Commercial facade cleaning is not only a cleaning task. It is an access, safety, scheduling, surface-protection, and documentation challenge. Rope access, scaffolding, suspended platforms, and manual high-reach cleaning can be effective, but they often require long setup times, specialized crews, strict site control, and repeated work-at-height exposure.

Spider-Man high-rise manual cleaning

⚠️ The Conventional Method: Manual Rope Access Cleaning

THE CHALLENGE

Traditional facade cleaning carries inherent hazards and rising costs.

Safety & Cost Pressure

Working at height is inherently dangerous, intensified by rigorous regulations and insurance premiums often exceeding 60% of budget.

Time Lost in Setup

Scaffold assembly and rigging drag down timelines. Slow manual cleaning reduces annual project capacity and revenue potential.

Limited Scalability

Scarcity of certified rope-access crews restricts business growth, while inaccessible structures permanently cap serviceable revenue.

Overview

A Facade Cleaning Solution Is More Than a Drone

A reliable drone cleaning project combines the aircraft, cleaning payload, ground pump, hose route, nozzle selection, water source, detergent plan, pilot workflow, ground crew communication, safety perimeter, and post-job documentation. EAUAV provides both complete cleaning drone systems and DJI-platform payload kits so customers can choose the right deployment path.

Choose the Right Facade Cleaning Path

Some customers need a complete cleaning drone system from one supplier. Others already own or sell DJI Matrice 400 aircraft and only need a professional cleaning payload.

Choose Vertex C80/C80P when you want a ready-to-deploy facade cleaning system supplied by EAUAV. The system is designed around a hose-fed cleaning architecture: the drone flies on battery power, while water or approved cleaning solution is supplied from a ground pump through a hose.

  • Foam and pressure rinse workflow
  • Manual, A-B route, and pilot-supervised area cleaning modes
  • C80 for routine projects; C80P for higher facades up to 120m

For DJI Enterprise dealers, existing M400 owners, and service teams that prefer to source aircraft locally, the EAUAV DJI M400 Facade Cleaning Kit provides a payload-based path into facade cleaning. The kit is designed around a lightweight spray boom, PSDK / E-Port V2 workflow, pump and hose configuration, nozzle options, and optional chemical mixing.

  • PSDK / E-Port V2 centered workflow
  • 1.4 kg carbon-fiber spray boom
  • Foam, 0°, 15°, 25°, and 40° nozzle options

How a Professional Drone Facade Cleaning Project Works

EAUAV recommends treating each facade project as a documented cleaning workflow, and match the surface, soiling, water system, flight path, and safety plan before full-scale cleaning begins.

Review building height, facade geometry, roof or podium access, ground takeoff area, pedestrian zones, vehicle movement, wind exposure, GNSS environment, water source, drain points, and local flight restrictions.

Identify glass, coated metal, stone, concrete, painted panels, signage, seals, frames, or sensitive materials. Review dust, salt, algae, bird droppings, industrial pollution, and long-term staining before choosing detergent and pressure settings.

Before full-scale cleaning, test the planned method on a representative area. Confirm detergent compatibility, spray distance, pressure level, water spotting, runoff behavior, and visual result.

Select C80/C80P or M400 kit, then confirm pump, hose length, nozzle type, foam workflow, pressure settings, battery rotation, ground crew roles, and spare parts.

Safety and Exclusion Zone:

Set up the takeoff and landing zone, hose route, pedestrian exclusion zone, emergency stop process, pilot/ground-crew communication, and post-cleaning runoff control.

Pilot-Supervised Cleaning:

Use manual spot cleaning, vertical A-B route cleaning, or area-based route cleaning depending on facade shape and site risk. The pilot remains responsible for monitoring standoff distance, wind, hose behavior, and surface response.

Record before/after photos, flight logs, cleaned area, water usage, detergent notes, surface observations, and customer reporting materials for future maintenance cycles.

Precision Cleaning for Diverse Facades

Facade material defines the cleaning method. EAUAV cleaning workflows are configured around nozzle angle, spray distance, water quality, detergent selection, pressure setting, and test-patch results.

Glass curtain wallFoam or pre-wash when needed, followed by controlled fan-nozzle rinse. RO/DI final rinse can be considered when spotting matters.Avoid aggressive pressure near seals, damaged frames, or loose fittings.
Coated aluminum / metal panelsWider nozzle, larger standoff, lower pressure, and mild detergent.Always test coating sensitivity and avoid strong acids, strong alkalis, or abrasive media.
Stone / concreteSurface-specific detergent and controlled rinse based on porosity and staining level.Porous surfaces may absorb chemicals or water; runoff and discoloration must be reviewed.
Painted or tiled surfacesGentle rinse or soft-wash style workflow where surface condition allows.Old paint, grout, cracks, or loose tiles require conservative pressure and test patch.
Billboards and signageLow-pressure rinse, careful standoff, and limited detergent.Printed film and adhesives may be sensitive to pressure and chemical exposure.
Roofs / skylights / selected rooftop solarOnly where water access, hose routing, edge protection, and surface suitability are confirmed.Complex roof layouts and fragile surfaces require separate review.

Build a Repeatable Facade Cleaning Service

The main value of drone facade cleaning is not only reaching higher surfaces. It is building a repeatable service model that can be quoted, trained, documented, and scaled across multiple building types.

FAQs

  • Choose C80/C80P if you want a complete EAUAV cleaning drone system supplied as a full package. Choose the M400 kit if you already own, sell, or locally source DJI Matrice 400 and want to add facade cleaning capability through a payload-focused conversion.
  • They can be configured for glass curtain walls, windows, exterior walls, coated metal panels, stone, concrete, billboards, roofs, and selected rooftop solar surfaces. Sensitive surfaces require a test patch before full-scale cleaning.
  • In the standard C80/C80P facade cleaning configuration, no. The drone flies on battery power, while water or approved cleaning solution is supplied from a ground pump through a hose. The M400 kit is also designed around a water-fed payload workflow.
  • Yes, mild facade-compatible detergents or foam can be used when appropriate. Strong acids, strong alkalis, abrasive media, and unverified chemicals are not recommended in the standard workflow. Detergent selection should be based on surface type, soiling, local rules, and test-patch results.
  • Yes. Drone registration, Remote ID, airspace approval, pilot qualification, insurance, worksite control, and local safety rules vary by country and project. EAUAV can provide manufacturer-side technical documents and SOP references, but local approvals remain the operator’s responsibility.
