The AB Point operation mode is efficient for regularly shaped fields and requires minimal setup compared to fully autonomous routes. This lesson explains how to use this mode.
AB Point Mode Workflow:
- Pre-Flight: Complete standard pre-flight checks. Ensure the operation tank is filled.
- Take-off: Manually take off and fly the drone to the desired starting point of the first pass (Point A), typically at one edge of the field.
- Mark Point A: Hover the drone at the start position. Press the designated “Mark A” button on the remote controller or App. The app should confirm Point A is recorded.
- Fly to Point B: Manually fly the drone in a straight line along the desired first operational pass to the end point (Point B).
- Mark Point B: Hover the drone at the end position. Press the designated “Mark B” button. The app should confirm Point B is recorded. (Note: Distance between A and B must typically be ≥ 10 meters ).
- Set Parameters: Ensure operational parameters like swath width, flight speed, and application rate are correctly set in the app settings before starting the AB operation.
- Start AB Operation: Press the “Start AB Operation” button on the RC or App. The drone will now fly autonomously.
- Operation:
- The drone will typically fly from B back towards the line perpendicular to A.
- At the end of the pass, it will automatically turn (spraying usually stops during turns) and shift sideways by the set swath width.
- Use the Roll stick (right stick left/right) to initiate the first turn and dictate the direction (left or right) for subsequent passes.
- The drone will continue flying parallel passes based on the A-B line until the operation is paused or completed.
- Monitoring & Control:
- Keep the drone within visual line of sight.
- You can typically adjust the flight altitude using the Throttle stick (left stick up/down) during operation. Centering the stick maintains the current adjusted height.
- Pausing/Exiting:
- You can usually pause or exit AB mode by:
- Pressing the AB mode button again on the RC. The drone will typically hover, recording a breakpoint.
- Moving the Pitch or Roll sticks.
- Running out of liquid or triggering low battery failsafe.
- Obstacle avoidance activation (if equipped and enabled).
- You can usually pause or exit AB mode by:
- Resuming: After pausing (e.g., for refill), fly the drone back near the flight path. Press the AB mode button or “Resume” in the app. The drone will typically fly to the last breakpoint and continue the operation.
- Landing: Once the area is covered or you manually exit the mode, land the drone manually and lock the motors.
AB Point mode offers a balance between manual setup and automated execution for suitable field shapes.
